Science, Technology, and Starter King

How The Best Firestarters Really Work

At the Walsh University Science and Technology Summit, the room was packed with the sharpest minds in science and tech across Ohio. Keynote speaker Dr. Jonathan Gruber, MIT, discussed the future of economics and technology and why cities like Canton and Akron matter so much. Innovators shared insights on technology advancements, new tools to battle cancer, find new sources of clean energy, and even 3D print from materials on the moon – all from innovators right in our backyard. It was really something to see!

Among them, Starter King.

It was humbling to be invited to speak among these folks, but there’s a reason Starter King was on that stage. This really is an innovative product. Our starters are made from reclaimed, non-recyclable wax paper; it’s a top-tier product. Bottom line, our fire starters work better because they’re made better and through an innovative proprietary process.

One of the things we presented on is Starter King’s environmentally conscious design; our firestarters are produced using a low-energy process and crafted from 100% reclaimed, non-recyclable wax paper. This approach not only reduces waste but also demonstrates the potential for sustainable manufacturing. In terms of performance, this also offers several practical advantages, including a quicker ignition time and longer burn duration compared to standard options, and they are capable of reaching high temperatures rapidly and maintaining a consistent burn, even under challenging conditions like rain or snow. Additionally, these firestarters are made from food-grade materials and are completely odor-free (you can ask any of our pitmaster partners). To top it all off, our firestarters are then packaged in recyclable, SFI-certified paper.

Attendees lined up after the presentation for free samples, and we have little doubt they’ll become lifelong Starter King customers.

We left the summit not just proud but inspired by our community's spirit. The day showed us that innovation can come from anywhere, even a family-owned business in Alliance with what was otherwise destined for a landfill.

Thanks to Walsh University and everyone who made this possible. We’re so proud to be a part of this community. Make sure you pick up a free sample yourself:
