Starter King will light a fire in 5-10 minutes without kindling depending on the size of the fire and how you build your fire. For charcoal, a standard full charcoal chimney can be ready to go in about 8 minutes.

Yes! This is one thing that makes Starter King stand out. Our product burns hot and long enough to light wet wood (this is the only situation where more than one piece of Starter King may be necessary). Also, our product can get wet, soak in water for weeks even, and still light. This makes Starter King ideal for backpacking, camping, or starting fires and charcoal on rainy days. No need to worry about wind either!

We recommend each 3in bar being broken up into 4 pieces. Each piece alone should be sufficient for charcoal and the vast majority of fires. Starter King burns hot and long enough to use a very small amount; using the whole bar or even half is overkill in most cases. If your wood is wet or you want to speed up the process, using more will help.

You need less Starter King than other starters to achieve better results. This saves you time and money!!

Starter King reaches a temperature of 450 degrees F in under 2 minutes. This temperature is in that critical range needed to start fires. The product sustains a peak temperature range of 800-1000 degrees.

For charcoal, our best results were achieved placing a small piece under a charcoal chimney. After lighting, a completely full charcoal chimney reached 1300 degrees in 6-8 minutes. No more waiting 30+ minutes for charcoal.
